Secret death saves

· One min read

To increase the tension when a character is potentially dying, the DM will roll death saving throws for the player in secret unless there is a reason not to.

One reason the DM may opt not to roll in secret would be in situations where doing so would likely not enhance the game, such as when out of initiative.

Another reason the DM may not roll in secret would be if a player has a feature that they can choose to activate based on the results of the roll.
